Description

One of the image I took during our recent trip to New Mexico. Such a beautiful state with so many awesome attractions and, more importantly, dark skies.

My dream was to image the Milky Way in the White Sands National Monument, but they still don't have backcountry camping for some reason. However, I think I found even better place. The image above shows one of the thousands (even tens of thousands) of petroglyphs you can see at Three Rivers Petroglyph site. The glyphs are dated around 1000 AD and were created Jornada Mogollon people. Such a nice location with no crowds and beautiful views. We hiked there during the day and then returned at night to take thee pictures.

Ten one minute exposures were manually registered in PI using DynamicAlingment tool and stacked together (since the stars are out of focus and wide angle lens distorts the view, I could not get regular star alignment procedure to work). The foreground is also a stack of ten images but without alignment.
